Global cooling specialist STULZ were delighted to be presented with two awards at last week’s DCD Awards in London.

STULZ, together with Africa’s largest vendor neutral data centre, Teraco, were presented the prestigious 2017 DCD Global Award in category 5 “Energy Efficiency Improvers”.

With the project ”Isando Data Centre 7” Teraco and STULZ proved that, even at fluctuating temperature conditions and a lack of reliable energy infrastructure, a maximum of energy efficiency is acheivable.

The colocation data centre located in Johannesburg, South Africa is equipped with CyberCool 2 chillers and CyberAir 3 units which add to a total cooling power of approximately 2 MW. Due to the excellent cooperation between Teraco and STULZ South Africa, the regulation of the Indirect Free Cooling and the hydraulics were optimally aligned and the pressure loss was minimized even further. By optimising the switchover points, the system can run in Free Cool mode up to 20° C and hereby achieves outstanding efficiency values.

Brendan Dysel, Head of Infrastructure Management, Teraco accepted the award on behalf of Teraco.

STULZ was played a key part in another project to win at the DCD Awards. Supercomputing centre MareNostrum located in the historical chapel Torre Girona, Barcelona, Spain won the prize for the Category of “World’s Most Beautiful Data Centre”.  STULZ was trusted with the realisation of the facility’s precise and attractive cooling.

STULZ representatives said that they feel honoured to be recognised by international experts for their products and efforts and are looking forward to facing new challenges.
