A new 60-page report called “Data Centre UK Trends Tracker – July 2019 edition” has been released this week and provides updated research relating to the UK Data Centre market.  The publishing date was on Saturday 10th August 2019 and is available for purchase via DATACENTRE.ME.

UK Data Centre Trends (UK-DCT) is a Bi-Annual Subscription Service published twice a year in January and July / August. This service analyses third-party Data Centre facilities and each edition covers the sections:

The UK Data Centre market remains the largest market in Europe with 880,000 m2 of potential data centre raised floor and 1,213 MW of potential power at the end of June 2019 and continues to growth at a reduced rate though with new space being added by a handful of DC providers including Ark Data Centres, CyrusOne, e-shelter, Equinix and Virtus, with the focus on areas within the Inner London and M25 area followed by the Slough city cluster.

Some of the key trends of the UK Data Centre Tracker are highlighted below:

1)      Average Data Centre Pricing in the UK varies significantly by each Data Centre City Cluster with the average variance by up to 40 per cent. Birmingham and Manchester city clusters having the lowest track space.

2)      There continues to be new Data Centre developments in the London/Inner M25 and Slough Data Centre City Clusters with Virtus in Stockley and Slough, Cyrus One and Equinix expanding in Slough with both of these city clusters accounting for the majority of new DC space and power development.

3)      The UK Data Centre market remains fragmented with a large number of Data Centre Providers. Out of the over 120 Data Centre Providers, fifty-one (51) per cent is accounted for by just seven (7) Data Centre Providers.

4)      London and Inner M25 area remains the largest Data Centre City Cluster with over 270,000 M2 of Data Centre raised Floor space accounting for around 30 per cent of the total UK space.
